TWO men charged with burglary after a couple’s Carlisle home was broken into as they slept earlier this week have appeared in court.
City magistrates heard today (March, 7) that possessions valued at around £2,600 were pinched from an address at Brisco Road, Upperby, during the early hours of yesterday morning when the occupants were woken by intrusion of their flat.
The haul is said to have comprised console games, hair straighteners, a VR headset, PlayStation, controllers, a Nintendo Switch, Google Pixel phone, lipstick and Wetherspoon gift cards.
There is said to have been a verbal confrontation in a bedroom of the property.
Following the incident, 30-year-old Marc Proudfoot and Steven Queen, aged 40, have both been charged with burglary, allegedly by entering the property as trespassers and stealing the belongings.
Queen is further charged with possessing a class C controlled drug, namely diazepam.
Proudfoot — wearing a grey jumper — spoke to confirm his name, date of birth and gave his address as Stanhope Road, Carlisle.
Queen, wearing an olive green top, also spoke from the dock to confirm his details, which included an address c/o Oaklands Drive, Upperby, Carlisle.
The case was sent to Carlisle Crown Court.
