TODAY marks International Women's Day, which celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. 

We asked who inspires our News & Star readers.

Caz Wardrope said: "My friend Kathryn Osborne who is a paramedic, she shows me every day that anything is possible."

Terri Evans said: "My landlady who became my second mother. The wonderful late Sybil Johnston. Granny Carlisle to my children."

Jane Peacock said: "Jean Amelie James she gets better with age, always wants to better herself and others and lives out her dreams!"

Several readers nominated Cheryl Irwin, a nutrition and fitness coach, as the woman who inspires them.

 

Linzi Stainton said she is 'an amazing woman and has inspired me so much'.

 

Aleasha Wallace, who runs a dance fitness class, said one of her class members inspires her.

"Tracey Cockton Hewitt came to my classes around 13 stone heavier than today. She continued her healthier lifestyle and has inspired many of my other members to change their lives too. Showing anything is possible," Aleasha said.

Julie Thirlwall added: "My bestest friends of 66 years," while Katrina Jack said: "My mum Lorna McSorley."

Allen Young commented: "Angel Smith with her words of wisdom."

Pauline Vanderwolf added: "My mother Jean Stuart RIP," as Les Stn said: "My beautiful cousin PC Debbie Hall who sadly passed away in 2020, truly missed by so many."
