A PUB which is a familiar favourite in Carlisle has just announced that it's under new management.

The St.Nicholas Arms, located on London Road, as of two weeks ago had a new tenant take over, Alex Stoica.

Alex, who also owns Alex's Pasta Bar in Carlisle's Green Market, says they are looking to turn it back into an 'old fashioned community pub', catering to everyone from families, darts teams and football fans.

"We serve food all day, with our traditional pub menu offering.

"We'll be offering pasta, burgers, a kids menu and Sunday lunches - just your traditional pub grub.

"We aim to be open for food seven days a week, serving from eleven till half past eight in the evening, and obviously drinks till the licence finishes at 1 am.

"The first step I did was get Sky Sports back on the TVs. If it takes off, we'll put the midweek games on from BT as well. It's going well, it was really busy for Manchester United vs Liverpool," he said.

The pub also opens on Saturday and Sunday mornings, offering breakfast between 9-11 am.

Alex, who has been a chef in various restaurants throughout the city, said opportunities for new staff who want to get in touch will 'always be welcome'.

"We have onsite accommodation for staff also available, it's a really nice living quarter so don't hesitate to get in touch if you are interested," he said.
