Two lanes are blocked on the M6 after a lorry shed its load.

Cumbria police said they are dealing with the incident which happened on the M6 southbound between junction 39 for Shap and junction 38 for Tebay.

There are currently two lanes blocked and the police are advising drivers to use alternative routes where possible.

A spokesperson from Cumbria police said they reported a major alert at 6:28pm, and they remain at the scene where lanes one and two of the M6 in that region are closed.

They added that the situation isn't being regarded as particularly serious, and no injuries have been reported, but cargo is blocking the road still.
