A TEAM of solicitors based in Cumbria have raised more than £7,000 to help children and families in the region and across the UK.
Burnett’s Solicitors have held fundraising events at their offices in Carlisle, Cumbria and Newcastle as part of a partnership with the NSPCC for the last two years which raised £7,038.
These funds will go towards supporting the charity’s work to help young people and families across the region and the rest of the country.
This includes visiting schools to help children gain the confidence to speak out when they need it and supporting the NSPCC’s Childline service.
Helen Hayward, partner and head of commercial property at Burnett’s, said: "Our teams have had great fun arranging bake sales, raffles, pizza making, sports days, wreath making, ice cream vans… the list goes on.
"Each of our teams took their turn to organise something for each month of the year, so it was a great way to really get people involved and raise awareness for this wonderful charity.
"It has been an absolute privilege to be able to raise funds for such a worthy cause," she said.
Sandra Jones, NSPCC community fundraising manager, said: “This is a terrific amount for the team to have raised.
"It will make a real difference to the NSPCC’s work in the region and will help us to help keep children and young people safer.
"The NSPCC relies on public donations for around 90 per cent of its funding, so we are hugely grateful to everyone at Burnett’s Solicitors for their support over the last two years.
"We would love to hear from anyone who wants to find out more about how they could support the NSPCC, either through fundraising or volunteering, and you can do that through the NSPCC website.”
