Mountain rescuers were called out after a woman fell off a path, injuring her ankle and wrist.

A couple were walking north from Swirls car park along the intake wall near Fisherplace Gill when the woman slipped off the path and took a tumbling fall sustaining injuries to her ankle and wrist.

Involved were Keswick Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) and the Northwest Ambulance Service (NWAS).

A spokesperson from KMRT said: “The team were able to drive quite close to the scene leaving just a 10-minute walk to the casualty who was assessed, given some pain relief and her ankle splinted before being stretchered down to an awaiting ambulance.”

The callout, which took place at 11:43am on March 24, required 18 team members and lasted an hour and 29 minutes.
