Firefighters were called out to a kitchen fire that emerged from a charging electric scooter.
Firefighters from Carlisle West and Carlisle East fire stations were mobilised at approximately 10:30pm last night (April 4) to a property on Thirlwell Avenue, Carlisle.
A spokesperson from Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “In attendance, crews were greeted by the owner of the property, who confirmed that there was nobody trapped inside, but the fire involved the kitchen of the property, and a charging electric scooter, which he had managed to drag into the rear garden.
“Crews extinguished the blaze using two breathing apparatus wearers, a hose reel, a positive pressure ventilation fan, and small tools.”
The service said people should always ensure they have working smoke detectors on each floor of their property to give them an early warning if there is a fire.
It also advised ensuring manufacturers’ advice and guidance is followed, and a charger designed specifically for the item is used.
