A HOUSING developer has announced they are providing 20 per cent discounts on a number of plots in Whitehaven.
Saltom Bay Heights, Gleeson’s first development in Whitehaven, is currently offering a 20 per cent reduction on selling price through its selected affordable plots as it delivers quality homes in West Cumbria.
The sales recently commenced of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes on the new 40-plot development, situated on High Road, with the first homeowners moving in during Summer 2023.
10 per cent of homes being built will be classed as 'affordable', and therefore only sold to purchasers meeting certain criteria.
The selling price of these affordable homes will represent a 20 per cent discounted rate.
The criteria for eligibility can be found through the Copeland Borough Council website.
Amanda Starr, Copeland Council’s head of housing and inclusion, said: "It is great that progress is being made and Gleeson is on track to deliver affordable homes for sale in Whitehaven this Summer.
"The previous scheme in Egremont helped local people get on the housing ladder, and it would be great if that could continue in Whitehaven. I’d really encourage people to see whether they are eligible for these affordable homes, which will have the backdrop of our stunning coastline.”
Frazer Thompson, regional director at Gleeson (Cumbria), said: "Gleeson Homes sees considerable potential for growth in Cumbria, and we are delighted to begin selling our first homes in Whitehaven.
"We are equally as excited to be delivering much-need, affordable and high-quality homes in the region, and have worked closely with the local council to facilitate this.
"We believe the 20 per cent discount represents a fantastic opportunity for first-time buyers to take their first steps onto the housing ladder and achieve homeownership. We look forward to more exciting updates within Cumbria soon!”
