A FAMILY-OWNED gastropub is 'immensely proud' to have retained their Michelin star for 2023.
The Dog and Gun Inn, in the heart of Skelton, made the announcement on social media last week (March 29).
The gastropub, owned by head chef Ben Queen-Fryer, is becoming no stranger when it comes to accolades having recently received its third Rosette award and also made the shortlist of GQ Magazine's Food and Drinks Awards 2023 last month.
"It's one of those things you wonder how it will feel after you keep it after you've originally won it - maybe it's a relief feeling.
"The way they do things, you don't know why exactly you got it. You've got to trust yourself that you're doing the right things and hitting the right markers and heading in the right direction.
"If you're lucky, you keep it, as we've been," Ben said.

The restaurant also made national headlines recently having received a rave review by one of the UK's top food writers, Grace Dent.
"There's very little personal interaction between ourselves and Michelin, it's very much in trusting the process, and hoping your work is appreciated.
"We've never made a point of trying to catch any inspectors out, if someone comes in as a one - you can sometimes be suspicious.
"But, we're not into catching people out, we just want people to enjoy their meals.
"If they're industry professionals and they come in and enjoy it - the more so the better if it's their job and they enjoy it," Ben said.
