"The food was absolutely beautiful, served by lovely staff in a cool and quirky environment. It’s so nice to find somewhere trying to do something different with its menu and do it to a really high standard. Will definitely be back," they added.
2 The Thin White Duke

The pub on Lowther Street is an iconic and historic pub in the centre of Carlisle with its secret gin bar, "Said The Actress to the Bishop...", on the upper floor.
A review on Tripadvisor said their Sunday lunch was 'outstanding'.

"We plan to return, again and again. Compliments to the chef, you really are a superstar."
5 Sportsman Inn
The pub on Heads Lane was presented with the Winter Pub of the Season Award by Solway Camra earlier this year.
A reviewer shared their experience at the inn.
"Slightly off the beaten path lies the oldest pub in Carlisle, close by to the Cathedral. It’s a small place, but full of charm and elegance.
They said: "We were fortunate to find a table, bought some drinks and then had perhaps the best beef roast I’ve had. The perfect Sunday lunch."
