Former Football League star Michael McIndoe has left his role as manager of Gretna 2008.

McIndoe and assistants Robbie Park and Liam Robertson have left the Lowland League club after the end of their campaign.

Gretna said the duo want to manage at higher levels.

It leaves the Raydale Park club seeking their third manager in seven months.

McIndoe had stepped up to replace Stephen Hatfield after the latter’s resignation last September.

After a caretaker spell the former Wolverhampton Wanderers, Coventry City and Bristol City player McIndoe became permanent boss.

He led Gretna to a 17th-placed finish with the last game of their 2022/23 campaign a 3-1 defeat at Edinburgh University on Saturday.

The club said in a statement: “The board are sad to see them moving on but fully appreciate their ambition to manage in the higher divisions.

“Michael and his staff have done a fantastic job since coming in, winning more games than the three previous seasons combined, which in turn has steered the club away from relegation.

“Everyone at the club would like to thank Michael and his coaching team for their hard work and professionalism, and would like to wish them every success in their next venture.

“A new management team will be announced in due course.”
