Our readers have been responding to a Nostalgia piece that shows photos of old nightclubs in our area.
Cumbria's nightlife scene is constantly changing, with new bars and clubs opening as others fade into the past.
One club featured is Jumping Jaks, the nightclub opened its doors for the first time in April 2004, promising the best party in town. In June 2006, the club closed.
The Malt Shovel was situated at 1 Rickergate. The original building was demolished in 1928, with the new one completed on 4th August 1928 to the design of Harry Redfern. It closed in 2003.
The Old Hall was a central club for West Cumbria’s dance music scene in the early 1990s, however, as with many clubs, over time it closed. In 2021, a night has held in Whitehaven to reunite clubbers and DJs. The Old Hall is now flats.
Here's what you had to say.
Julie Thompson said: "These were the days. I was just back in Carlisle for a couple of weeks, I have to say the nightlife now is rubbish."
Julia Jones said: "Some excellent nights at The Pagoda."
Scott Pender described the Old Hall as 'the best night in the northwest."
