CUMBRIAN super league legend Kyle Amor will be seeing his career come ‘full circle’ as he looks ahead to his final game at the LEL arena in October.
On retirement, Kyle said: “It pretty much brings it all to an end, this is the final sort of show piece event, but within that it brings my career to a close.
“I have a few mixed emotions around that really, I’m excited, I’m nervous, it’s a huge part of me that’s finished now, but I’m excited, relieved as well there are a whole host of emotions that come with completely retiring.
“It’s a chapter in my life that will close, and I have got to move onto something else, but to do it at home and bring it all together, to bring something that I really care about which is Cumbrian rugby league and put that on the map and showcase it again, it’s a nice fitting way to sign out really.”
The game will be a ‘full circle’ moment for the former Whitehaven player, who will end his career where he started as a teenager.
He said: “I think it will feel incredible, I remember playing there when I played with Saints and that was a weird feeling, I was proud to be part of a team and an occasion which saw nearly 6,00 there, seeing these superstar players of the game come to town, but this is going to be something a little bit different, I think.
“For me personally, to be able to bring it full circle, it only feels like yesterday I remember walking down Inkerman terrace to go to training, it’s come pretty much circle and it will be great.”
The date of the game has been changed due to the European calendar being released, with the Cumbria vs. Wales match now set to be played on Friday, October 13 with kick off at 7:30pm, the change is said however to give a real test to the Welsh team ahead of their calendar.
Kyle said: “The Welsh team play France over in France the week it would originally have been, but what this has been able to do is give John Kier and his men an incredible fixture, they will use this as a full-blown curtain raiser for their hardest group game against France.
“My shirt alone is going to be all Cumbrian based businesses, or Cumbrian liked businesses, it’s really smart.”
Ticket sales will be announced soon, as well as the kit launch and ways to get a Kyle Amor Testimonial shirt.
