WETHERAL Bowling Club got into the Coronation spirit at the weekend with a commemorative cup.
Thirty six of the club's members dressed up in red, white, and blue to celebrate the crowning of King Charles III and also played a match in their new Coronation Cup.
This cup, which has been created specifically to celebrate the coronation of the new monarch, will now be played annually.
Club President John Grierson presented the cup to the winning team of Yvonne Opray, David Milburn, and Irene Scott.
Following the game, which was played in the ideal coronation weekend conditions, club members gather for a 'high tea' followed by a toast to the new king.
This event kick-started a busy month for the club as they play their first friendly of the season when they visit Longtown Bowling Club on Sunday.
In addition, the following weekend will mark the beginning of Wetheral Bowling Club's annual tour, which this year will visit Perth, Scotland.
This action-packed month comes to a close on Sunday, May 28, when the club opens its doors to the public for its annual fun day, where locals are invited to give bowls a try and enjoy the club's hospitality.
