A COMMUNITY-run initiative that looks to showcase the best-looking shopfronts in Whitehaven has bestowed this month’s award to Home Bargains.
The Whitehaven Tidy Town Committee, which includes the Mayor Charles Maudling, Emanuel Flecken from Copeland Council, Whitehaven Harbour Commissioner John Baker alongside a group of dedicated volunteers within their ranks, are using the platform to encourage businesses to stand up and be noticed for exemplary shop fronts which help improve the image of the town – with this month’s award going to the business on Preston Street.
Committee member Lara Schwab said: “Home Bargains has been making a lot of improvements and it is obvious that they are definitely taking pride in the town’s appearance.”
Manager at Home Bargains, Sonya Hannah, said their team was ‘so pleased’ to have won the award, giving special praise to one of their team members, Nancy.
“Our team member Nancy works hard to keep everything looking good.
“We take great pride in making sure all our valued customers have a great experience whilst visiting Home Bargains.
“Our newly opened garden centre is becoming a very popular value for money asset to the area with our beautiful range of plants and pots, not to mention decorative stones and garden ornaments.
“We would like to say a massive thank you for the award and welcome the appreciation,” she said.
