THE headteacher of a Carlisle infant school has said she is ‘delighted’ after Ofsted said that school continues to be a ‘good’ school.
Kingmoor Nursery and Infant School in Carlisle was inspected in March of this year and, according to Ofsted, it's a good school with 'enough evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school could be judged outstanding.'
The visit from the schools’ inspectorate was an ‘ungraded inspection’ which is taken every four years to check if the school remains good.
If Ofsted find evidence that a school would now receive a higher or lower grade, then the next inspection will be a graded inspection.
The report promising of a potential ‘outstanding’ rating comes just eight years after the school was rated as requiring improvement by Ofsted.
The report was well received by Kingmoor school community with headteacher Nicky Corfield saying she was ‘proud’ of her school.
“We are delighted and so very proud,” said Mrs Corfield.
“I have been here for four and a half years and the whole school community have achieved fantastic things.
“We have an experienced and gifted staff who go above and beyond for all of our families.”
In a letter sent to parents, Mrs Corfield and the chair of governors, Mr McGaw said: “Although there are no areas of development identified during the inspection we will continue to try to improve, develop, listen to children and parents and try to ensure that we provide the very best education and experiences for your children.”
The report itself praised all aspects of school life including the teachers, pupils and school leaders.

The report said: “Pupils are very happy at Kingmoor Nursery and Infant School.
"They arrive each day ready to learn and excited to see their friends and teachers.
“Pupils are highly engaged with the local community. They have worked closely with the housing estate resident’s association and have met with a councillor to share their ideas of how to improve the local area.
“Staff have forged positive relationships with pupils and families. The school is very well led and managed.”
The school’s next inspection will be a graded assessment which could see them gain an ‘outstanding’ report.
