This week Cumbria Freemasons hosted the second Masonic Fishing Charity event.
The event was held at Gilcrox near Aspatria and welcomed pupils from Mayfield School, Whitehaven, and James Rennie School, Carlisle.
Fishing allows children with additional needs to meet new challenges, provide a stimulating fishing experience, and achieve tangible results to take away.
Neil Dixon, a spokesperson for Cumbria Freemasons said: "The Masonic Fishing Charity’s aim is to bring an interactive fishing and countryside experience to people and children with additional needs.
"We want to help others, who would not usually have the opportunity, and to share and benefit from the pleasure that fishing in natural surroundings can bring.
"Charity is an integral part of the core principles of Freemasonry and the fishing events that we organise are part of our personal commitment to working in the community.”
They added: "We had the pleasure of welcoming pupils from Mayfield School, Whitehaven and James Rennie school, Carlisle helping them enjoy fishing and experiencing the outdoor experience, in a safe setting, with the weather being extremely kind."
