This was the moment football fans at Wembley paid an emotional tribute to tragic Carlisle teenager Lewis Michael Kirkpatrick.

The 15-year-old, whose body was found in the River Eden on Saturday, was remembered with a moving minute's applause in Sunday's League Two play-off final.

Carlisle fans, upon learning of the devastating news, immediately formed plans to remember the teenager.

And as the first half of the game reached the 15th minute, Blues supporters broke into applause - and were joined by those of opponents Stockport County.

Applause rang around the national stadium as many in the 34,004 crowd paid their respects to Lewis.

He was named today as the 15-year-old whose body had been found in the river shortly after 1.30pm on Saturday in Carlisle after a major search operation.

It followed reports that four teenage boys had got into difficulty in the River Eden near Rosehill in the city on Friday evening.

Police also confirmed a 14-year-old boy, who was airlifted to hospital on Friday evening, remains in a 'critical condition'.

"One of the group managed to swim to safety, while another was rescued safely by a member of the public," police added.

"Both were checked over by medical professionals."
