Readers have responded to leaders approving plans for a food and drink chain to move into an empty let.
The company Loungers is moving into the former Topshop unit on English Street in Carlisle city centre, one of the most prominent empty lots in the city, with plans to turn it into a new all-day dining establishment.
Loungers operates both bar venues, under the name Cosy Club, and cafés under the name Lounge, and it's the latter which will be taking on the space.
Here's what you had to say.
Liz Wood said: "Another cafe, right across from the three cafes already there, that's just what Carlisle needs."
Jon Davies said: "Taking the local airport back into public ownership and re-opening it fully so that it can have commercial flights flying to other places around the UK and Ireland would also have a noticeable impact too."
Cheryl Blaylock said: "We need all the rents lowered so people can afford to rent all the empty shop units."
Suzanne Kelsey said: "I agree the lack of decent clothes shops is an issue but having a place that is not a pub, that looks like it will stay open until later is a good thing for the city centre.
"I was always reluctant to go into a pub for something to eat on my own and would go in the Crown and Mitre in the early evening if going to a meeting after work etc.
"It’s a lot better than the unit standing empty."
