CUMBRIA Police have confirmed that a second boy has passed away following an incident in the River Eden.
Police confirm that the second boy sadly died following the incident where a group of teenagers got into difficulty in the River Eden at Carlisle on May 26.
The 14-year-old passed away in medical care in the early hours of yesterday (June 15).
A file will be prepared for the coroner.
The boy was airlifted to hospital after the incident on May 26.
Rescuers had found the first boy to pass away, Lewis Michael Kirkpatrick, 15, in the River Eden after a multi-agency search.
An inquest was opened into Lewis's death at Cockermouth Coroners' Court yesterday morning.
