STAFF members of a car dealership hope to be the 'driving force' of motivation for each other as they try to play golf all day for charity.
Five members of staff from Lloyd Carlisle MINI have taken on an Ultra Marathon in The Big Golf Race on Tuesday, June 20 2023 to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.
Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition - to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, to stop prostate cancer being a killer.
With this in mind, the challenge saw team brand manager Jamie Bingley, retail sales manager Mike Brown, finance manager Ian Bell and sale executives James Routledge and Jordan Coulson attempt to play 100 holes of golf, and cover approximately 35 miles, all in one day.
The task was being split over two separate golf courses in the local area, Stoney Holme Golf Course and Eden Golf Club.
Throughout the day and night, the team want to complete three and a half rounds at Stoney Holme (64 holes) followed by two full rounds at Eden Golf Club (36 holes) with an estimated tee-off time of 4:00am and a (hopeful) completion time of around 11:00pm.
Speaking about the challenge Jamie Bingley said: “What started out as what we thought would be a fun way to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK, we are quickly realising this is going to be a truly challenging task to complete.
"Completing 100 holes over 35 miles all on foot with no buggy is a pretty daunting task the more we think about it – but we’re extremely excited to take on this challenge and hope we can make a significant contribution to help the fight against prostate cancer.”
So far, the team have raised a total of £1,700 which has been raised through online and offline donations, plus £275 gift aid.
