THE family of a boy who died tragically in a river has paid tribute to his life and memory.
Jaden Doyle, 14, from Carlisle, passed away this month following a devastating incident in which a group of teenagers got into difficulty in the River Eden on May 26.
Jaden passed away peacefully at Jigsaw, Cumbria’s children’s hospice.
After the tragic accident, Jaden was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary where his family stayed by his bedside constantly.
It was decided to move him to Jigsaw where he sadly passed at around 2.30am on June 15.
An obituary published on funeral director Jill Glencross’ website states he died with his ‘loving mam by his side’.
“Jaden will be greatly missed by all his family and his many friends especially his dog and best friend, Willy,” it reads.
His funeral will take place on Monday, June 26, at 10.20am at Carlisle Crematorium.
In a separate tribute, Mel, Jaden’s mother, said: “Jaden was so funny, quick-witted, and very caring, he had such a good heart.
“I cannot begin to describe how much he will be missed, his laugh, his cheek, even his moods.
“He will be missed every single day by his family and his friends, he had such good friends.
“Jaden and his older brother Nathan would go to the Carlisle games every Saturday, that was their thing, and I loved seeing them spending good times together.
“Jaden was looking forward to becoming an uncle in August.
“Jaden loved nothing more than going out with his friends, playing football, or just messing around, if he wasn’t out it was the Xbox.
“I cannot believe I am not going to see his face or hear his voice again, his best friend Willy will be lost without him.
“My world has stopped, and my heart is shattered, I will miss him always.
“We just have to say a huge thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and the Freeman Hospital, the Great North Air Ambulance, and all the emergency services that helped, but most of all the special nurses at Jigsaw, the care and love they give is amazing.
“A final special thank you must go to Luke, the passerby who courageously put his own life in danger to try and save both boys.
“We as a family will be eternally grateful and never forget what you did for us.”
Jaden is the second child to die after the incident. Lewis Michael Kirkpatrick, 15, went missing on May 26. His body was found in the river Eden the next day following a multi-agency search effort.
