A SHOPLIFTER who ‘persistently’ failed to comply with a community order has been jailed.
Samuel Wallace, 33, of Mitchell Avenue, Northside, Workington, was sentenced to a total of 38 weeks in custody when he appeared at Workington Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
He admitted two charges of theft from a shop and possession of a Class B drug – cannabis.
Wallace stole two Amazon Fire Sticks, a pair of Mixx Streambuds and a Google Chrome Cast device , worth £180 from Asda in Workington on June 18.

He also stole £180 worth of clothing from Sports Direct in Workington on the same date and was found with cannabis in his possession.
Magistrates gave the defendant’s ‘wilful’ and ‘persistent’ failure to comply with his community order and previous record as reasons for imposing a custodial sentence.
An order was made for the forfeiture and destruction of the cannabis.
