EXCITEMENT is bubbling as there is about to be a new plaice to go for fish and chips along Cumbria's coastline.
Salt Fish and Chips, on South Parade, Seascale, a new sit-in and takeaway restaurant, looks to offer their version of the British classic to patrons, offering everything from local produce and beer brewed onsite.
Salt will be opening for takeaway on July 7, with July 18 earmarked for the restaurant opening its doors.
Salt's aesthetic draws inspiration from the picturesque Cumbrian coastline, paying homage to the building's rich history and the businesses that occupied it before.
Owner Ben Llewelyn-Seed's dedication has gone beyond simply opening a chippy; it's about restoring and renovating a beloved landmark that holds a special place in Seascale's heart, previously operated as Barnes' shop.
"I have a photograph of when it was Barnes' shop, up in my kitchen," he wrote on social media.

"It takes pride of place amongst the sea of artwork from my children and the notice that was up when we applied for planning permission.
"I look at the photo and see Barnes standing outside the building, exuding pride in what he’s created.
"Sometimes I look at it and think that this renovation, fish and chip shop and support to my family wouldn’t have happened without him.
"Although I didn’t know him, I am extremely thankful."
Tantalising us with a glimpse of Salt's future delights, Ben said the menu will boast an array of options, from classic cod and haddock sourced from British ships to homemade pies, local potatoes, gluten-free alternatives, scampi, vegetarian dishes, desserts alongside local coffee and beer.
"Thanks for everyone’s continued support, kind words, and encouragement.
"You have my word that I’ll try my best to make this little business everything you hoped for," he said.
The website of the new restaurant will be available for viewing soon but you can follow Salt's Facebook page for updates in the meantime.
