CARLISLE has commemorated Armed Forces Day with an event in the city centre.
Armed Forces Day took place on Saturday, June 24 with locals given the opportunity to offer their appreciation for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community.
Here is a selection of the best pictures from the event, captured by photographer Stuart Walker.
Between 10am and 4pm, locals showed their support to a wide range of armed forces organisations that were in attendance at the service in the pedestrianised area of the city centre.
The organisations represented included the Cumbria Museum of Military Life, the Military Vehicles Trust, Cumbria Army Cadet Force, Duke of Lancs, The Solway Aviation Museum, The Carlisle United Trust, the Sea Cadets, and the Royal British Legion.
In addition, the service was also attended by a number of veterans, service families, and cadets.
In the lead-up to the event, the Armed Forces Flag was also flown at the Old Town Hall from Monday, June 19, until it was lowered towards the end of the ceremony on Saturday.
Carlisle mayor Abdul Harid was joined at the commemoration by the chair of Cumberland Council, Carni McCarron-Holmes and Alexander Scott, Lord Lieutenant of Cumbria, and the president of the Carlisle and Stanwix branch of the Royal Legion.
Cllr McCarron-Holmes also spoke at the event in the city centre.
