Anti-social behaviour hotspots have been named by Cumbria police as a local police team carried out targeted patrols.
The constabulary’s Eden team identified Ullswater Road in Penrith as an area of repeated anti-social behaviour by local youths.
In particular, the area around the railway station, McDonald’s, and Castle Park is the worst area for it.
Three dispersal orders were authorised in that area, with people involved in or suspected to be involved in anti-social behaviour being given a formal direction to leave the area and face arrest if they refuse or return before the order expires.
A spokesperson from the Eden police team said: “There have been a number of arrests as well as young people referred to the Child Centred Policing Team and Youth Offending Service.
“Youths causing issues have also been physically taken home to their parents and reported for offences.
“We are seeking anti-social behaviour injunctions from the courts for the worst offenders.
“If successful, this will impose long-term curfew conditions and ban them from entering certain areas of town.
“We are working closely with British Transport Police, staff at McDonald’s and the station to ensure that the offenders are held to account and to make the area safer for everyone.
“Please continue to report any ASB incidents which occur in this area.”
