CARLISLE'S popular I Love Cafe is opening today from a brand new home after an intensive three-month renovation project.

I Love Cafe, which is very much a family business, will be serving patrons from the former Coffee Genius unit on St Cuthbert's Lane from today (July 11).

Charlotte Birkett took over the original I Love Cafe in Kinmont Arcade before lockdown, alongside her mother Kerry Birkett.

With an ever-growing popularity, the duo have been looking to expand to a larger premises and the former cafe unit makes up for quite the perfect spot.

Charlotte said the cafe has 'come together perfectly'.

"After three months of hard work renovating our new premises, we are very proud to be opening our doors today," she said.

"The cafe has come together perfectly and I couldn’t be happier with how funky it looks.

"I couldn’t have done any of this without the incredible support from my family and friends."

The new opening hours will be Tuesday to Saturday from 9am to 4pm, serving tasty home-cooked food including breakfast, brunch and lunch options.

Customers can indulge in a variety of mouthwatering sweet treats, but one standout menu item Charlotte said is the cream of the crop - the irresistible berry compote, creme fraiche, and honey pancakes.

Charlotte and her partner Adam Parker, who has worked as a restaurant manager across Cumbria, will run the day-to-day of the business but Kerry and auntie Hannah Blacklock's homemade cakes will still be very much capturing attention.

"Of course, we will still be stuffing our (even bigger) cake cabinet with Kerry’s homemade cakes and traybakes too.

"Looking forward to seeing our lovely loyal regulars and hopefully lots of new faces too," she said.
