A COMMUNITY order along with a two-year ban have been handed to a Carlisle motorist who was caught drink driving.
Sam Metcalfe, 30, committed the offence on Wigton Road at Newby West, Carlisle, on Saturday, June 17, the city’s Rickergate court heard. At the time, he had 98mcg of alcohol in his system. The legal limit for driving is 35mcg.
The defendant, of Greenside Road, Carlisle, pleaded guilty.
Metcalfe’s one-year community order includes a requirement to complete 60 hours of unpaid work. He was offered the drink driver rehabilitation course, which if completed by a deadline will reduce his ban by 24 weeks.
The defendant, who was represented by defence lawyer Chris Toms, must pay £85 costs and a £114 victim surcharge. His guilty plea was taken into account.
