POLICE in Cumbria have objected to a licensing application for a Carlisle takeaway.
Councillors are set to meet on Tuesday (July 18) to make a decision after the objection was received.
Bosses at Pizza Italia, in Botchergate, have applied to Cumberland Council to transfer the premise licence.
However, Sgt Scott Adams, a police licensing officer on behalf of Cumbria police, has objected to the move.
According to the report, which has been given to councillors, the application was received at the beginning of last month.
Members of the council’s licensing sub-committee will be asked to consider the reasons given by Sgt Adams for his objection.
The report states that, due to the sensitive personal information contained in the notice, part of the meeting will be considered in private with members of the press and public excluded.
It has been recommended that members should determine the matter and either dismiss the objection, grant the application or allow the objection and reject it.
The report states: “It must be noted that clear reasons should be given for the decisions and an appeal may be made to the Magistrates’ Court against the decisions of the authority by the responsible authority, interested party or premises licence holder, within 21 days from the date of being notified.”
Committee members are due to meet in the city’s Civic Centre at 10.30am on Tuesday to consider the application.
