AN update has been issued to planespotters keen to see the Lancaster bomber as it's set to make an appearance over the Solway Aviation Museum this weekend.

One of only two remaining airworthy Lancaster bombers, the plane will fly over the Solway Aviation Museum only once at 1:47pm on Sunday, July 23, as part of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

The Lancaster bomber was at the centre of the famous Operation Chastise – commonly called the ‘Dam busters’ raid – in 1943.

The RAF describes the Avro Lancaster as the most famous and successful RAF heavy bomber of World War Two.

Timings are still subject to change on the day.
