WORKINGTON Town has wished the best of luck to former winger Alex Young, as he embarks on a two-year contract at ‘one of the biggest clubs in the world’.
Sydney Roosters have signed winger Young, who played for Workington Town between 2020 and 2022, on a contract for the 2024 NRL season, according to reports.
Workington Town have wished Alex, who is also the brother of England international and NRL player Dom Young, the best of luck in what the club say is a ‘fantastic opportunity’.
First team assistant coach Neil Frazer said: “Alex was a player with a great attitude towards the game and knuckled down and worked hard in training.
"He worked a lot on his catching and was very safe under a high ball with great technique that he had picked up working in a super League environment with Huddersfield Giants.
“When he was given an opportunity on the field, he was a very capable finisher as he proved for us in the 2021 season when he scored some important tries for us when we gained promotion to the championship.
“Everyone at Town wish him well on his 2-year contract with one of the biggest RL teams in the world and hope he makes the best of a fantastic opportunity.”
