A BACKGROUND report is to be prepared about a west Cumbrian man who has admitted sending a 'grossly offensive' electronic message.

Noah Hetherington, 20, also pleaded guilty to possessing the Class C drug Xanax and the Class B drug cannabis.

He committed all three offences on June 14 at Dearham, Carlisle’s Rickergate Magistrates’ Court heard.

The defendant, of Oaktree Crescent, Cockermouth, will be sentenced on August 7.

He was granted bail with certain conditions. These include a condition not to contact a named female by any means and not to go to Towncroft, Dearham.

The pre-sentence report will be prepared by the Probation Service.
