AN application has been submitted which seeks approval for the creation of 7 eco-holiday cabins in Ousby, near Penrith.

The plans, submitted to Wesmorland & Furness Council on July 6, seek to extend the offering at the current Wild in Style accommodation provider, which offers yurts within the woodland of Gill Bank.

It has been submitted by Prospus Group Limited, on behalf of Wild in Style's R. Henriksen.

The proposal seeks to change the use of the current agricultural plot, proposing roof-mounted solar panels on each cabin with individual drainage and a waste composting facility.

Each pod will be provided with solar panels to provide power and a fresh water supply, with the plans also accounting for 16 car parking spaces.

The Design & Access Statement reads: " This proposal meets criteria by providing; small scale economic benefit from low impact tourism, sustainable tourism which encourages visitor appreciation of the natural world, and social benefits through both the impact on visitors experiencing the local environment and the impact on the local community which will benefit from increased diversification of employment."

With a successful application, the glamping site hopes to bring on board two full-time employees.

The consultation period will end on August 10.
