ENVIRONMENT Agency data shows that Carlisle endured a wet July, receiving more than double its average rainfall for the month.
The data, which was posted on social media by the Agency's Cumbria hydrometry officer Martin Wilson, shows that Carlisle received 151mm of rain during the summer month, a 213 per cent rise on its July average.
Elsewhere in the county, Kendal received 228mm, 211 per cent of its July average, Honister received 436mm, 195 per cent of its July average, and Ennerdale received 232mm, 177 per cent of its July average.
Despite the washout of July, it appears there will be no respite from the wet weather, with the Met Office issuing a yellow severe weather warning for thunderstorms that covers the majority of the UK.
Carlisle looks set to avoid this weather front, however, in the latest Met Office forecast, showers which could turn 'heavy and thundery' are expected on Thursday, August 3.
