Paul Simpson has condemned the “idiots” who threw objects from the terrace at Carlisle United’s opening League One game.
And the Blues boss says any fine the club receive from such incidents will directly hit his transfer budget.
United’s game against Fleetwood Town saw two messages over the public address system warning about objects being thrown from the Warwick Road End.
It puts the Cumbrians at risk of further disciplinary action on the back of this week’s fine over racist chanting at a game last season.
Manager Simpson was incensed by the actions of a minority of “clowns” in the home end who he said are harming the club.
He said: “Today, 99.99 per cent of [the supporters] have been absolutely magnificent. Unfortunately, and I’ve got to say it, we have some idiots who are throwing things from the Warwick Road End and they’re going to cost this football club.
“We have a pot of money that all comes in to make this club better.
“If you have some clown, or more than one clown, who wants to throw things, we’re going to end up throwing their money away and lining the pockets of the FA.
“Let me tell you, they don’t need it as much as we do.”
Both announcements came around the hour mark of the 1-1 draw, at the game attended by 10,279 supporters.
The club reminded fans that it is an offence to throw objects onto the pitch. Police officers and stewards moved behind the goal at the Warwick Road End as the incidents came to light.
It has not yet been confirmed what the objects were.
Simpson said the behaviour tarnishes what has otherwise been superb collective support for his team.
“I don’t get it. I really don’t get it,” he added.
“Over the last nine months, the Warwick Road End has been an absolute shining light for us in terms of the togetherness and the work those young people are doing.
“I don’t know who it is, I don’t know whether it’s an older person, a younger person..I just don’t get it, me.
“I don’t know what needs to happen, how we get the message to them, but they’re costing us money.
“And that money…an absolute cert, it will come off my budget.
Let’s put a long story short: Idiots throwing stuff on the pitch need to be stopped, then we won’t get fined🤷♂️

No fine = bigger budget
Bigger budget = better squad
Better squad = better results
Better results = EIEIEO
Just stop throwing crap on the pitch! #cufc
“We’ve got so much money to spend as a football club, we can’t make it come out of an ashtray anywhere else; nobody has that sort of money lying around.
“It's such a shame. Our fans have been superb. That turnout today was magnificent, and it’s spoiled by some…I don’t know who it was, but they’re not helping our football club.”
The young fans behind the Warwick Road End fans' movement which has revitalised United's home end in recent times also slammed the behaviour.
Posting on social media, they said: "Let’s put a long story short: Idiots throwing stuff on the pitch need to be stopped, then we won’t get fined.
