His legacy at Carlisle United will never be forgotten.
And now the much-missed coach David Wilkes has been celebrated with a new flag at Brunton Park.
The highly-respected youth coach is immortalised in a new design by Flags For United.
It features an image of Wilkes and the phrase, 'Part of the fabric of the club', which is how he was described by Blues manager Paul Simpson in tributes following the coach's death in June aged 59.
The flag is the latest to be unveiled at United after another fundraising effort by Flags For United, who have been behind a host of impressive displays at the ground in the last two seasons.
Long-serving Wilkes was regarded as one of the most influential coaching figures in the Blues' history for his development of a host of home-grown players.
That included a remarkable wave of Cumbrian talent in the 1990s - while he was head of academy coaching in his most recent role at the club.
The David Wilkes flag is one of several new designs which will be on show in the Waterworks End terrace at tonight's home game against Wigan Athletic in League One.
Another celebrates Wembley penalty shoot-out hero Taylor Charters with the words, 'Not bad, eh' - the midfielder's words to the News & Star before a post-match interview following the League Two play-off final.
A further flag features goalkeeper Tomas Holy cradling the play-off final trophy after his own shoot-out heroics, set against the flag of his native Czech Republic.
