The Summer Reading Challenge continues to be a highlight of the event calendar, with a wide range of activities and events taking place in Cumberland Libraries.

There is still time to sign up to the challenge, but you don't need to be signed in to join in with the fun.

One exciting event coming up is Tullie on Tour at Keswick Library on Friday, August 18.

From 10.30am-12pm, attendees will have the opportunity to discover objects from the museum's collection and learn about the exciting happenings at Tullie.

Another event taking place is the Lego and Duplo Workshop at Carlisle Library on Tuesday, August 22.

Running from 10.30am-11.30am, this free drop-in session allows children between the ages of three-12 to get creative with Lego and Duplo.

Children under eight must be accompanied by an adult.

Families are also invited to join one of the Wordsworth Grasmere Free Family Workshops.

These workshops offer different sessions for different age ranges, allowing participants to explore the changes in tourism, the impact of William Wordsworth, and the underwater life in the lakes through craft and poetry.

For those struggling with internet access or mobile phone top-ups, the Databank Surgeries may be of interest.

Free mobile sim cards with 20GB of data and unlimited UK calls and texts could be available to eligible individuals from low-income households.

For those who enjoy a good mystery, there will be Murder Mystery nights hosted by Highly Suspect, one of the UK's leading Murder Mystery Event Companies.

These events, suitable for children aged 8 and above accompanied by adults, will take place at Carlisle, Workington, Whitehaven, and Millom Libraries in October.

Tickets are priced at £9 per adult and £5 per child.

Councillor Anne Quilter, Cumberland Council Executive Member for Vibrant and Healthy Places, said; “Why not visit your local library and try something new this summer?
