AN application has been put forward to change the use of a former children's day nursery to two-holiday accommodation units in Hackthorpe, near Penrith.

The building has been vacant for a number of months since Little VIP'S Daycare departed from the building.

The development site is an existing historic barn-type over two storeys that measures approximately 10 meters wide by 9 metres and adjoins Pheasant Bush Cottage to the east.

The application has been submitted to Westmorland & Furness Council by PFK on behalf of Mr J Titheridge.

It comes with the proposal of bringing on one full-time employee.

The building has been vacant for a number of months since Little VIP'S Daycare departed from the building.

The daycare has found accommodations adjacent to the primary school.

The design and access statement reads: "The proposed layout would remain similar within the proposed use in the main barn, which would form the larger holiday letting unit.

"To the lower ground floor would be a single bed unit, with a bedroom and bathroom, and a living/dining/kitchen space.

"To the upper floor and roof space would be the second unit.

"On the upper ground floor, the property would be access from the door to the rear of the barn, which would lead into a large open plan kitchen/dining/living space, with a w.c.

"To the roof space, two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms would be provided in place of the two playrooms in the current nursery set-up," it reads.
