A WEATHER warning is still in place until 12pm on Saturday, August 19 after winds of up to 70 miles per hour battered the county overnight.

There had been warnings that the adverse weather could bring some disruption to transport, travel and temporary infrastructure as well as potential power cuts, but the county appears to be relatively unscathed.

Met Office Chief Meteorologist Jason Kelly said: "Friday and Saturday will see unseasonably wet and windy conditions for much of the UK."
