A KIRKOSWALD pub is holding a ‘big breakfast fundraiser’ to help one of its former employees raise money to go and study in Canada.
On Monday, August 28 between 9am and 2pm, the Fetherston Arms in Kirkoswald is hosting the fundraiser to help former employee Mati to study at a prestigious film school in Vancouver Canada.
Cumbrian based Mati (Matthew) Dalton, residing in Low Hesket and bought up in Kirkoswald has been offered a place at the industry led prestigious Vancouver Film School in Canada and is due to take up his place this October.
Family and friends have already been helping out with a range of fundraising ideas and now his former employers are also helping out with the Big Bank Holiday.
Along with support from family and friends Mati has already raised over £26000 Towards the £33000 target he has which will enable him to study for a Diploma in Animation Concept Art and open up great opportunities for him within the animation industry.
Alan Collinson, who is the landlord at the Fetherston Arms, said “Mati lived in Kirkoswald and worked at the Fethers for just over 8 years, and we are proud to be able to support him and his ambitions by hosting this Big Bank Holiday Breakfast.”
The Big Breakfast begins at 9am and alongside a fine Full English there is also a Half English for those with smaller appetites as well as a classic bacon roll.
There will also be vegetarian breakfast options available. The event is cash only.

Mati Dalton said: “So many people have been so generous and supportive to help me realise my dream in what has been a difficult time.
“Having this fundraiser, the support of the Fethers and a great team of people helping us put on the event is fantastic.”
Family friend Fiona Tidbury said “Our dear friend Simon, Mati’s dad, sadly died earlier this year and we are doing all we can to help Mati get to the Vancouver Film School as we know how much this meant to Simon.
“We hope many people will come along and enjoy the Big Breakfast and support Mati.”
