A local community hub that provides support to the people of Cumbria would receive a significant donation this week.
Lanercost House Care Home travelled to the Lookout Community Hub in Carlisle on Monday, August 21 to present a cheque worth £2000.
The grant had been awarded by Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, a charity that helps older people and adults with a disability or mental health problems across England, Scotland, and Wales.
The Lookout Community Hub is in the heart of one of the most deprived areas of Carlisle and is currently running sessions aimed at bringing people together through providing food and activities.
The hub hosts Knit and Natter sessions to help those struggling with social isolation, and the £2000 grant will now go towards providing extra craft materials and refreshments for attendees.
Janette Lawrence, general manager at Lanercost House Care Home, said: "We are always keen to show as much support as we can to local charities. The Lookout Community Hub provides much-needed support to the older adults in our local area to reduce the impact that loneliness and social isolation have."
Gemma and Hayley, the managers of The Lookout Community Hub, said: "This money will really help us continue to provide services to the people in the local area."
Knit and Natter sessions take place fortnightly on Tuesdays between 6:45 - 8:45 pm.
