EMERGENCY services were called out to a West Cumbrian water at the weekend after reports a kayaker was in difficulty.
Teams from Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team , as well as other coastguard rescue teams, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and ambulance teams were called out to the kayaker on Ennerdale Lake on Saturday, August 19.
A spokesman for Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team said: "We were tasked on Saturday afternoon by our Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre Belfast Coastguard, alongside colleagues from Maryport Coastguard Rescue Team, Maryport Rescue, Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust to reports of a kayaker in difficulty in Ennerdale Water.
"Whilst travelling to scene, the welcome news was received that the kayaker was safely ashore and all persons accounted for, meaning all assets could be stood down.
"Whilst HM Coastguard have a statutory obligation for the initiation and coordination of coastal and sea emergencies with the deployment of our Coastguard Rescue Teams and SAR partners, our rescue capabilities of Rope, Water and Search are also called upon from time to time to provide assistance to partner emergency services inland also."
