IN this week's nostalgia, we have collated together memories from primary and junior schools in our local areas.

One photo shows Bishop Harvey Goodwin School in Carlisle. When the children who attended Bishop Goodwin Junior School, Carlisle, left for home at the end of September 1971, it would be the last time they would use the old school which had small corwded classrooms and tiny cloakrooms.

When the pupils returned the following Monday it was be to their new school, which had been built on the site of the former Currock Girls’ School in Harold Street, Carlisle.

Another shows Belle Vue school in Carlisle. The primary school has been opened for 54 years this September. In 2019, to celebrate its 50th anniversary, Belle Vue Primary School, on Beaver Road, invited past and present pupils, parents, staff and governors to join them to celebrate 50 years of education on the Belle Vue site.

St. Cuthbert's was built to be a Catholic School, the present school was opened in 1974.

It is situated in its own grounds and has two separate play areas for the EYFS and KS1 and 2. The School is voluntary aided and is in the Diocese of Lancaster.

Stanwix Primary School is a primary school located on Church Street in Carlisle. The school has a rich history that dates back to its establishment in 1910. Originally known as Stanwix Council School, it was built to accommodate the growing population of the Stanwix area.

Over the years, the school has undergone various expansions and renovations to meet the changing needs of the community. In the early 2000s, a new building was added to provide additional classrooms and facilities.
