Students across the country would receive their GCSE results on Thursday morning, with one academy in Carlisle enjoying particular success.
Richard Rose Central Academy welcomed Year 11 students from 8 am on August 24 to pick up their GCSE results.
After lots of hard work returned impressive grades, plenty of their pupils are set to return as Sixth Form students when the school year begins again in September.
Dan Markham, Principal at Central Academy, said: "Congratulations to our Year 11 cohort on this year’s GCSE results, and in particular to our top-performers who secured the highest grade 9.
"We are delighted that so many of our students will be joining our Sixth Form in September to embark on their A Level or BTEC studies where I have no doubt they will continue to flourish. As always, thank you to our excellent teams of staff across the school for all they have done and continue to do for our young people."
Students at the school who achieved a raft of the top 8 and 9 grades include:
- Anya McClelland, who achieved seven grade 9s, one grade 8 and one grade 7;
- Dominika Milsoz, who achieved six grade 9s, one grade 8, two grade 7s and one grade 6;
- Joshua Docherty, who achieved four grade 9s, two grade 8s and one grade 6;
- Tilly Chan, who achieved four grade 9s, two grade 8s, one grade 7 and two grade 6s;
- Daisy Ditchburn, who achieved one grade 9, six grade 8s, and two grade 6s.
Speaking of her achievement, Anya said: "I am very proud of myself and appreciate how my teachers have helped me. I am so relieved and pleased with my results."
Dominika added:
"I am really proud of my results and thankful to the school. Thank you to all of the teachers who believed in me."
These top-performers will all be joining the Central Academy Sixth Form in September
There, they will be looking to follow in the footsteps of the school’s departing Year 13 cohort who secured places at their first-choice universities for a range of high-quality courses, including Law and Mechanical Engineering.
