HERE is a round-up of police appeals across North Cumbria in the last week.

 

Witness appeal 

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seen acting suspiciously and behaving inappropriately near Carlisle city centre.

The incident occurred around 2.30pm yesterday (Aug 23) in the Aglionby Street and Portland Square areas.

The man, described as white with a beard and scruffy long hair, was wearing a red hoodie and black trousers.

'Suspected arson' 

Police treating a house fire in Carlisle as 'suspected arson' are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. 

Emergency services attended to the fire on Lindisfarne Street, Carlisle, after receiving a call at 10.16pm on August 24. 

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward who may have witnessed anyone acting suspiciously. 

Shoplifting incident 

Police are investigating an incident of shoplifting at a craft shop.

It happened in the Moon on the Hill shop in Penrith on August 12, 2023, between 10:28am and 10:48am.

Police said they want to identify the female in this image in connection with the incident.

Fight outside Carlisle Aldi

An incident of two men fighting outside an Aldi supermarket has prompted a police investigation.

Officers received a report at 5:15pm on August 10 that there was a fight between two men outside the Aldi supermarket near Petteril Bank Road.

A man, in his 30s, was found to have been assaulted, sustaining facial injuries.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to come forward.

Teenager 'struck with unknown object' sustains injuries

A teenager was 'struck by an unknown object', sustaining a minor injury, sparking a police investigation into the incident.

It happened on Milburn Street, Workington, at about 8:45pm on August 3.

Police suspect the occupants of a black car in the area at the time may be involved.

Witness appeal after robbery

Cumbria Police are appealing for witnesses in relation to a robbery that occurred on August 22 around 7pm on Castle Way in Carlisle. 

It was reported that a young male was approached by two youths who took property from him, before walking off towards Viaduct Estate Road. 

Police are particularly looking for anybody with dashcam footage who was in the area at the time and a man who spoke to the victim following the incident. 

The youths are described as wearing all-black clothing, one male had short ginger hair the second male had short dark hair. 

Assault in town centre

Police are investigating an assault where a man was beaten by four people in the night.

The incident happened on July 7, 2023, in the area of Pow Street, Workington, at around 7:30pm.

The man, in his 30s, was walking down the street and was assaulted by the four people from behind, being knocked to the ground before being kicked and punched.

Police said the offenders were wearing balaclavas at the time of the assault. 

One was said to have ginger hair and another was on a bike.

It is believed that these offenders were young.
