An evening dedicated to dancing the salsa has earned more than £1000 for a local charity.
Paul Atkinson, who has run Salsa for Charity since December 2016, arranged the charity event alongside Richard Dunn and Angela Messenger, who run Salsa in Cumbria.
The event on Friday, August 18 proved to be incredibly popular and raised an impressive £1283.75 for Hospice at Home North Carlisle and North Lakeland.
Paul organises monthly charity Latin dance events in Sunderland for a different charity or good cause each month and was keen to do an event in Penrith.
Richard sadly lost his father in March of last year and when he was asked by Paul which charity he would like to award the money to, there was no hesitation.
The caring and compassionate carers from Hospice at Home, supported Richard's Dad, Norman, in the final stages of his life. They provided support and comfort for him, whilst helping Richard's mother take a well-earned rest.
The popular events start with basic and intermediate lessons in either salsa, bachata, or kizomba, and then there is dancing until midnight. The dance teachers generously offer their services either for free or for a reduced fee.
