A happy group of dogs and their owners took part in a special walk around Dalston to celebrate International Dog Day, led by Paragon Veterinary Group.

This is the second year that Paragon has organised a group dog walk to commemorate the occasion, with Vet Graham Lewis leading the way alongside his dogs Clova and Skye.

“Our first group walk last August was really enjoyable, and a number of people asked us to do it again,” he said.

“It is great to see so many wagging tails and smiles. We had nice weather once again and a great turnout. This walk round Dalston is one of my favourites. It is easy and scenic, with plenty of time for a chat and making friends. Exercise and socialising are good for dogs and for us too.”

Lisa Cuthbert, who took part in the walk with her red Cockapoo Hollie, said: “I think the walk is a great idea just to socialise and meet new people, and it’s always a good idea to find new walks."

Katy Smith, who joined with her dog Thea, said: “The turnout was quite big. It’s been really nice meeting all the different people and the different dogs. “It’s been a really nice event. We’ve not been here before, so it was nice to see somewhere new. It’s been a really nice way to share International Dog Day.”

The walk in Dalston is one of the six walks featured in Paragon's Cumbria Dog Walking Guide.

The guide is available for free at Paragon's Dalston surgery or on their website.
