This week people across the country will celebrate Harry Potter Back to Hogwarts Day.

Each year on September 1 fans of the wizarding world come together to mark the moment when wizards and witches board the Hogwarts Express on Platform 9 ¾ for another year at Hogwarts.

Over the years fans have begun to gather at King's Cross Station in London to mark the occasion.

Fans often dress up and those who can't attend have begun posting videos of themselves on social media enjoying the Harry Potter theme from all around the world.

This year the Wizarding World group that helps to organise the event will screen a showing of the third Harry Potter film The Prisoner of Azkaban online for fans to watch and enjoy.

Around the world, people gather in other cities to mark the occasion including in Hamburg, Paris, Milan, Chengdu, Sydney, and Tokyo.

Here in Cumbria Harry Potter is just as popular as it is anywhere else in the world. Here at the News & Star, we've searched through our archives to show you some of the most fun and amusing photos of people indulging in their love of the franchise.

We can see three photos of children taking part in Harry Potter Day at West Lakes Academy in Egremont, another three photos show Harry Potter Night which took place at Workington Library.

Other photos show children at St Margaret's Primary School at Upperby in Carlisle enjoying a Harry Potter-themed day.
