A Carlisle man is inviting everyone to join him in supporting the Armathwaite Challenge, a fundraising event for the British Heart Foundation.
As the date of this year's walk approaches, organiser Geoff Fisher is emphasising the importance of every donation, regardless of size, in making a difference and helping the charity continue its vital work.
The event, now on its 26th edition, will take place on Sunday, September 24, offering participants the choice between a 20-mile walk or a 10-mile walk.
The 20-mile walkers will convene at 8.30am at the Border Gate Hotel carpark in Carleton, Carlisle, and make their way towards Talkin Tarn in Brampton.
Meanwhile, the 10-mile walkers will join them at around 11.30am at the Fox & Pheasant in Armathwaite, walking alongside them to Talkin Tarn.
Transport will be available afterwards to take participants back to their cars or to the Fox and Pheasant for some well-deserved refreshments.
Geoff said: "This is a great opportunity to enjoy some beautiful scenery, meet some friendly people, and most importantly, support the British Heart Foundation in their vital research and care for people with heart problems. "As you may know, I have been organising this challenge for 25 years, and I'm so proud of what we have achieved together. Last year, we raised £7,500 and smashed our £60,000 target! "This year, I hope we can do even better and show our gratitude to this incredible charity."
Geoff's brilliant fundraising efforts have landed him as a winner, along with Davina Sim, of the Outstanding Contribution award in this year’s British Heart Foundation Heart Hero Awards.
This year's Armathwaite Challenge is dedicated to the memory of Geoff's father-in-law who sadly passed away shortly after last year's event.
For those interested in participating in the walk, Geoff kindly requests that they contact him as soon as possible by emailing him at geoff@metcalfe-civil-eng.co.uk.
