THE health trust in charge of North Cumbria’s hospitals has confirmed they do not contain any Raac.
North Cumbria Integrated Care Trust have confirmed that a review of their estate in 2019 confirmed there was no RAAC withing the estate.
Raac is a lightweight form of precast concrete, frequently used in public sector buildings in the UK from the mid-1950s to the mid-1990s.
As part of updated Raac guidance issued in May, NHS England asked trusts to assess their entire estate to see if they included any clinical or other facilities, including administration blocks or education centres, that were built with Raac.
The North Cumbrian NHS estate oversees a number of hospitals in the county including the Cumberland Infirmary and West Cumberland Hospital as well as community hospitals in Cockermouth, Workington, Keswick, Alston, Brampton, Maryport, Wigton and Penrith.
A spokesman for NCIC said: “Following a review in 2019 we confirmed to NHS England that no Raac was found in our estate.”
